Harold McDonald born 1887 and aged 35 was on a Canadian Passenger List arriving 19 May 1921 on the Empress of France. Travelled Liverpool to Quebec, destined to Victoria BC.  Had been in Canada 1910 - 1920 - occupation purser.
No mention of any relatives or friends - no address for destination.

Canada Arrivals Form 30 A did not give any further clues. He had been to visit relatives. Destined to Victoria.

There is an entry for Harold McDonald born 1887 and aged 23 years on the Empress of Ireland arriving 28 October 1910 - Liverpool to Quebec and heading to Vancouver. Occupation marked as clerk, hoping to do the same. No indication of any relatives or friends.

Agree Sandra, lots of discrepancies. And odd that he was living in a hotel.

Canada Voters List from 1935 Nanaimo
McDonald, Harold, purser, 301 Franklyn St.
McDonald, Mrs. Harold

Nice one eagle eye, ;D definitely looks like Grace on his death cert.

Cheers,
DB

What do you reckon the initials were ? Can't get back onto family search at the moment - high volume of users  ::)

There is a death for a Joseph Grace born 27 November 1878 Weymouth England - passed away 20 November 1956 Kamloops - single - fisherman - logger -
Not sure his initials would match that signature  ::)

Can't make out the initials, even though I've been staring at it for 10 minutes. ;D

Just checked his marriage cert. to see who the witnesses were in the hope that
there was a Grace, but no.

The address of the informant is 28-884 Bute St. Vancouver. In the 1939 Henderson
Street directory for that address is La Grue, Mrs. H. E.

Now that I am staring at it again, it is possible that it is LaGrue. What do you think
Sandra? Other than the fact that I need glasses. ;D

Hi
Thanks everyone for your input,i did have some of the info but never thought of Mary getting married again I'll have to follow that up.Its strange that the newspaper article says that Harold  drowned when the death registration attached to his death record on Family Search states that he died from a concussion after falling 25ft onto rocks in a public place. .My guess is that Mary made the decision to have the body shipped to Vancouver for burial but why not to Nanaimo where she and her family are from.i am in the process of checking cemeteries in both cities
