The 2nd one looks like it may be him, my sister said she came across the name Anne Geddes in her studies years ago.

Do you know if there is any way i can confirm that it is him, would his death certificate help ?

Yes.

A Scottish death certificate tells you the full names of the parents of the deceased, included his/her mother's maiden surname. Assuming the informant knew their names, of course.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
