HOLLARD family in Aberdare
« on: Tuesday 04 August 15 15:12 BST (UK) »
My great grandparents with their first child moved to Aberdare from Somerset around 1870 and there raised another 4 children.  3 of those 4 children were baptised back in Somerset but I have not yet found a baptism for Henrietta Hollard birth registered 1/1873  Merthyr Tydfil.  Her elder sister Mary Jane was born in 1871 baptised in Somerset and she died 4/1874 registered Merthyr Tydfil under the name Hollards.  I assume that she was  buried in Aberdare.

They were living in Bank Street in 1878 and were back in Somerset in 1881.

Could someone please look up these two missing entries as I am sure they must have been dealt with locally.  There is nothing in the Somerset parish registers where they came from.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Elizabeth

Not much help with the baptism, but have found Emanuel Hollard as the victim of an assault

Hi Mabel,

Thank you for your interest in my post.

I  have had this story on my files for a little while now.  It reveals an insight into my great grandfather's life that we knew nothing about.  Archive newspapers are so interesting and add that bit extra to anything you can find from parish records.

Thanks again.

Hi Keyboard86,

That's brilliant, thank you so  much.

Being called HOLLAND is so annoying, it used to get to me before I married and always made a point of emphasising the r with a real Bristol accent.  It does not register with soundex either so it means doing a separate search on both names.

I am really happy you have found this one for me.

Best wishes,
Elizabeth (née HOLLARD) :D
