Ernest Nobbs Howard
« on: Wednesday 05 August 15 10:03 BST (UK) »
Hunting for info about Ernest Nobbs Howard, born 1866 in Belton, on the outskirts of Gt. Yarmouth. Boundary changes have now placed Belton in Norfolk, rather than Suffolk, so am not sure where to post this request (It may need to be moved to Suffolk). His parents were Richard, a dairy farmer, born abt 1829 in Lound and Sarah A Howard, born abt 1839 in Foulsham. I can't find her maiden surname. He married Eliza Bennett in Yarmouth 1911. Occupation was bricklayer. I have 1871, 81, 91, 1901 and 1911 census info, but can't find his death which would appear to have been between 1911 and 1916 as his mother, then a widow, was notified of their only son's death near Ypres (Ernest William Howard). Any additional information about the family would be most welcome. Thanks

The parish of Belton is within the Registration District of Mutford.
So, this looks likely?!

Marriage, June qtr 1864
Mutford district     vol 4a, page 1030

Howard, Richard
+ and on the same page +
Nobbs, Sarah Ann

Found on www.freebmd.org.uk

Finally, the topic heading on RootsChat states: England (Counties as in 1851-1901)?
Belton moved to Norfolk in the 1974 boundary changes - so I reckon this thread should be in Suffolk?! ;D

Thanks so much for those pieces of information. It seems likely that both are correct. I have only come across the Nobbs middle name for Ernest N Howards from Norfolk/ Suffolk in my research so far.

Thanks for all that hard work Trish. As you say Sophia was a busy girl. I am researching this family to help an elderly lady who is coming to see me on Wednesday. I have some photos of her relatives who were killed WW1 and also of a redundant pub that her relatives kept as I am building up the archive of my village. You have helped with that line of her family tree a great deal.

On freebmd/ Suffolk there is the marriage of Ernest Nobbs Howard to Eliza Bennett in the December quarter of 1886 in the Stow S registraion district, is it possible that your info of a 1911 marriage is wrong?? Dave.
