Hi
Sorry, am getting confused, can I ask
If you don't have a baptism for John (Joseph) born 1801, then how do you know he is the son of John (Henry) born 1783 Clerkenwell? (who might not have married until 1809)
No remarriage for John Joseph after 1837, not even a marriage to Elizabeth before 1837.
Nor has he been found (so far) in any census after 1841
If he didn't die in 1878 after all, then when did he? Can you be sure he even existed?
Might the two Johns be the same person?

There are three baptisms to John + Elizabeth Gepheart (that I can find)
John - 27 Dec 1829 St Ann Blackfriars
Elizabeth - 17 July 1831 St Sepulchre
Mary - 19 August 1833 St Sepulchre

No mention of this John Gepheart or his son being John Joseph

OK I assume Elizabeth is the one who married a James Prince Bateman on 26th June 1853 Christ Church, St Marylebone Father John occ Coal Porter( so same as John in 1851)?
And then as a Widow to Thomas Hocker 15th April 1877 Bayswater Father John occ Porter

John the Coal Porter said he was 52 in 1851, but in reality was quite a bit older. If he did something similar in 1841, then he would appear as 40 on the census

That's the one!
One John Gepheart seems to make more sense. Perhaps a bit of a philanderer, as Lynn said.

;D Are we really saying a Philanderer quotes c 1801 for birth 1841/51 but dies aged 95 in 1878?
Keyboard86

PS death of Elizabeth dies 1850 says Lynn, wife of John Henry, so who is Sarah wife of John Joseph bear in mind relationships are not shown in 1841, could be his sister?

Mary Gepheart was born 1st February 1833 baptised 19th August 1833 Father John occ Labourer Mother Elizabeth abode 1, Green Arbour Court

I am now even more confused than before!  I think that John Henry and his son? John are different people, the baptisms of the next generation and the 1841 census make me think this.  I am still digging away!
