Frederick Hillier RIDOUT
« on: Saturday 08 August 15 22:11 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know anything about Frederick Hillier RIDOUT of Fiddleford/Okeford Fitzpaine? He was born in 1897 in Fiddleford; I have located him on the 1901 and 1911 censuses, and ascertained that he was in the RAF during WW1....but I can't find anything about his life after that, no marriage or death record or anything helpful like that.
He's not one of my direct ancestors, but I need some information for my family tree. Hope someone can help!

Do you know if this is his birth, if so, he could be registered at marriage and death just under the short name?

He's on the electoral register at Fiddleford until 1922 ((the last year on Ancestry)

There are quite a few Ridouts in the parish

When his brother, Walter Hillier Ridout, married in 1919 in Sturminster Newton, a Fred Ridout was one of the witnesses.

Clutching at straws here:

(If he did go to Canada, but why use Frederick H initially, and then die as Fred, but put for reference)

, and ascertained that he was in the RAF during WW1....
It look as if he was on RN's President ll (which Google tells me was an accounting base) from Sep-Dec 1917 and then transferred to the Royal Naval Air service at Calshot/Daedulus in Jan 1918 which combined with the Royal Flying Corps in Apr 1918 to form the RAF. Perhaps the RAF records would show where he went next.
