Hi,

I wonder how many centenarians there can be named Margaret Fear b. Somerset d. 1997. ???

There is this cemetery record in Saskatchewan, information is not quite correct, but something
to consider.

Cheers,
DB

From the census' that CB53 found, 1916 gives age unknown, 1921 age 29.

So I went with....close...... which equals straws + clutching. ;D ;D ;D

Cheers,

Something about that one, that has kept me hooked - feeling in the old bones, that it could be correct - just that middle name that's not fitting - maybe the submitter has put the wrong middle name  ???  There is an e-mail address for him and says "willing to help with any requests for data" - perhaps Alison could try an e-mail to see whether its possible to count this one in or out.  ;)
That is also the area Silas Albert was in in 1921 - Assiniboia. He is also listed Assiniboia Saskatchewan, Canada, Residents Index 1914.

Wonder if this is the same one  ? - Canada Voters List 1935 - Silas Fear - Macdonald Manitoba - labourer

Macdonald and Assiniboia seem to be a fair distance apart -

Thanks for my straws Sandra. ;D ;D

It is close and tempting isn't it. With the age unknown in 1916, makes you think hmmm,
what else was unknown or inferred. The spelling of Summerset bothered me too. Definitely
worth Alison sending along an email.

And....we are now off to Oshawa and Manitoba. Gee Silas gets around.

Cheers,
DB

Firstly thank you so much Sandra and DB for all this info! It is very much appreciated.

Silas and Margaret got married the same year they went over to Canada. On the 1911 census for Somerset Silas is listed as a engine driver living with a different family as a boarder. Up the road from this address was where Margaret and her family lived. Her brother Oliver was also a engine driver I believe this is probably how they met!

You are right DB it could be Margaret in the Asylum in 1916. I spoke to a member of the Fear family and they told me this "Silas' cousin Clifford Fear emigrated one month before him to Moose Jaw, about 150 miles away in Saskatchewan. He was a farmer".

So the area could be correct for those times.

If the informant on a death certificate isn't the wife I guess that means they weren't around when he died? I suppose it would make sense.

I will email the gentleman on the find a grave site. It seems too like to be different person! Maybe they never added the Mariah bit to her name only the Mary. Wear of gravestones due to weather could have just shown the Y of her middle name and the gentleman could have guessed.

I wonder what happened for Silas to be hopping around Canada. Maybe he was just following his cousin. Looks like he had many jobs though..

Thanks again for all your help!  :-*

If Clifford lived in Macdonald with wife Lillian, that is why Silas was there 1935. Never noticed Clifford and Mrs Clifford Fear were listed next but one to Silas on that voters list.  Clifford also arrived 1913.
Wonder if we followed Clifford, would it mention Maggie in any obits ?  Maybe not but worth a shot  ???
