I'm looking for any information about Frances Elizabeth Cafferata as I want to try and link her father James Lewis Cafferata to "my" side of the family. Perhaps a baptism record that shows godparents?
This is not the same Frances Elizabeth Cafferata who was born in Liverpool in 1843. The Liverpool Frances has a baptism record which shows that her Godfather was James Lewis Cafferata.

I find it inconceivable that the Durham Cafferatas aren't linked to the Liverpool Cafferatas but I've never been able to find a concrete connection between them. The closest is the names and the baptism.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

For info other siblings of Frances are

Louisa M 1827 Birmingham
Philip 1839 Bishop Wearmouth
Eliza 1840 as above
Julius F 1842 as above
Catherina 1847 as above

Might have some luck with the Birmingham one
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

There's a baptism record for son James Lewis C 3 October 1833 - there are names written underneath but I don't know if these were godparents names.

Thanks for the replies Millipede, I was aware of the siblings you posted but the 1833 baptism intrigues me - can you supply a link or let me know the details of the names?
I appreciate your efforts!

Hi,

Using 1841 Census there is a James Cafferata born abt 1796 (rounded down) transcript states
born Scotland - cannot read where born but it is NOT an S for Scotland.

We then find him on the 1851 Census born 1796 as James L Cafferata Italy British Subject.  Both census occupation as Dentist.

In Liverpool there is a Joseph Cafferata - Surgeon/Dentist he is dead by 1841 but married 1802
Liverpool.

This site:- http://cafferata.synthasite.com/joseph-cafferata.php

suggest he was born abt 1780.

Is the connection that Joseph and James were possibly brothers, it could be that James was actually
the son of Joseph assuming Joseph was born earlier than 1780, Joseph obtained naturalisation hence
James stating he was born as BS, although not quite true.

Sorry if the above is your site, have enjoyed searching.

Thanks for the message Millipede, I will check the non-conformist registers on Ancestry tomorrow.
Spendlove, yes, the site you linked to is mine. (Quite old, I've not updated it in a while.)
I would like to think that James Lewis Cafferata is the son of Joseph Cafferata - I think that given the different ages, that's more likely than brothers.
It's driving me nuts that I can't find a definite link between them though. As there was the baptism link, I wondered whether that would help.
Thanks to both for your assistance.
