Bathinaden as a Townland
« on: Tuesday 11 August 15 18:00 BST (UK) »
I just discovered the obituary for my Great Great Grandmother -
" HUGHES Mary Jane w/o Edward HUGHES b. in Meath, Bathinaden Co., Ireland, 15 May 1812 d. 29 Mar 1881 "
There does not seem to be a Bathinaden which leads to my two question:
Is it possible such a place existed in 1812 and no longer exist ?
Assuming typographical error, any idea as to what may be the correct Townland ?

gets you all the Meath townlands.... can't see anything obvious but as a guess I'd guess Batterstown.
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

I wonder if the Bath part should be Rath.
I wouldn't rule out Westmeath either I get the impression that people outside Ireland often think the West is a direction rather than part of the name.
Ive seen a few cases of Westmeath people been listed under Meath.

I wonder if the Bath part should be Rath.

Could well be, for example, Rathmaiden in the civil parish of Slane.
