Bate families in Derbyshire & Barbados : St Alkmund's Church Derby
« on: Wednesday 12 August 15 11:00 BST (UK) »
I'm a descendant of the Bate Family of Little Chester , Derby who moved to West Broughton
Derbys then Ashby de la Zouch , Leics. There was another Bate family with slightly varied coat
of arms who were from London , with estate in Barbados , who bought Foston Hall in Derbyshire.
Both Bate families were related to/involved with the Agard family of Foston.  My Derby Bate family
were also London merchants in C16,17.  Looking for any information on how these 2 Bate families may be related.

Also info on any memorials that may have been preserved from the original ancient St Alkmund's
church in Little Chester - this was demolished in Victorian times for a new church on same site then knocked down and moved for a 1960s road scheme. Bate ancestors were buried there and left it money.
                        Thanks in advance --- Anthony
