I'm trying to find a cap badge to match the shape on the photograph, but I'm having bother  ::)

Am I seeing things or is there a collar dog present?

I'm still of the view it's Artillery at the moment but I never ever brush john915's opinions aside  ;)

I've assumed it was William Johnson which is the name on auntie bertie's first photograph, born 1900 Mitcham, Surrey but have drawn a blank upto press.

Assuming William Johnson:

Only William Johnson born 1900 +/- 2 in Mitcham area is William Frederick B Johnson Q2 1900 Croydon reg dist.

Only service record found for similar name is medal card for William Frederick Johnson, joined Nov 1915 Royal Garrison Artillery (age would make sense - photo is of a very young man)

For what it's worth, I go along with the votes for RA (I wore one for 36 years).

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Thanks again.
Unfortunately he is not William Frederick Baden Johnson - as his parents are incorrect on his baptism records (Charles Edward and Ellen Mary).

'My' William's parents were Allan and Ellen Johnson.
William had 2 elder brothers who both died within months of each other in WW1.

Frederick James Johnson died 29/12/1916 Age:22 Regiment/Service:Hampshire Regiment 15th Bn.
and
Charles Johnson died 07/10/1916 Age:21 Regiment/Service:Hampshire Regiment "C" Coy. 15th Bn

So both elder brothers in the Hampshire....but the family moved to Sussex when William was 1.

Thanks again.
