Michael Garvey born Cullyhanna, Armagh 1867?
« on: Saturday 15 August 15 13:16 BST (UK) »
Michael Garvey appears in the 1901 census of England age 34, resident in Liverpool. He is recorded as a dock labourer, living with his wife Alice (nee Donaghy) and children. On the 1911 census he is recorded as being born in Cullyhanna, Armagh. His entry has been crossed through and noted lunatic, so perhaps he was actually living in an institution. His wife appears to be born in Tullyrahan, Monaghan. His eldest son Michael was born 1898 at Castletown? I am trying to find a definitive birth record or marriage record for Michael 1867, any help much appreciated.
Reid in Roxburghshire, McLoughlin in Castlebar, Mullin in Mayo,
Golden in Newry, Garvey in Belfast, Keane in Dublin.

Just a speculative possibility to park for now, pending confirmation of Alice's father from the 1896 civil marriage record, from Muckno RC parish, a baptism on 21 April 1876 for an Alice Catherine Donaghy, parents Henry Donaghy and Margaret Kernahan from Tullyrahan (left page, 5th down):

And from Muckno RC parish, this marriage from 24 June 1875 for a Henry Donaghy of ? and Margaret Kernan of Tullyrahan (4th position down from top):

As in Donaghmoyne townland (and civil parish), County Monaghan, could be.

Awaiting receipt of the all important certificate of Alice's baptism. With the Tullyrahan link it looks a strong possibility.
Thank you very much for your help, let you know results when they arrive.
Cheers

Received copy marriage cert for Michael and Alice married 04/02/1896 at Castleblaney .
Michael is resident at Kiltyhave?, of full age and his father is Daniel Garvey (deceased) farmer. Alice is resident at Tullyrahan age 19, her father is Henry Donaghy (farmer).
Witnesses are Rosena C Kernan and Lawrence Garvey.
So the Henry Donaghy and Margaret Kernan connection looks good.

The civil record of the Donaghy-Kernan marriage should give more information, should you wish to send off for a 4 euro photocopy from GRO Roscommon:
