Burns from UK to USA 1890
« on: Monday 11 July 05 18:59 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find details of Alfred Ernest Burns, born Birmingham 1865, who emigrated to the USA around 1887 - 1890. He ended up in Los Angeles in 1900. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andrew

Annie,
Many thanks for the info. I've traced him on the US census side and am just trying to track down the actual date and route of his emigration. Yes, he went alone and married out there.

Hi Andrew

It says on the census that he emigrated 1888 and he was a naturalised citizen
Do you happen to know his port of entry - or is that a mystery too ???

Do you happen to know somebody named Margaret Burns ?

Hi Annie,
I saw on the census that he said he emigrated in 1887/8 but I also saw somewhere that an A E Burns emigrated via Boston in 1880 but couldn't find any more details. I have much of his history in Birmingham but no Margaret Burns. Sorry.

Hi Annie,

Sorry, I made a mistake there. I saw an immigration date via Boston for 1890 not 1880.

Hi Kathy,

Many thanks for this. I'd seen the 1910 info but not the rest. Now I guess I have to try and track down any descendants!

Thanks again.
Andrew
