Identity of London area Church
« on: Sunday 16 August 15 23:05 BST (UK) »
I am trying to confirm the identity of the wedding party by trying to getting the identity of the church in the photo

What i know. The photo was taken by Bill Dray of 2 Church Rd, Ashford Middlesex. That address was used starting in 1946 - 1954

My father thinks the parents on the brides side are Arthur Percy Cox (his great uncle) and his wife Dorothy Helen Hayden who married in 1920. (problem) I have found no children associated with them.

Thx Brian

St Matthew church, Ashford.

Hard to see from the small photo, but look at the pointy uprights either side of the entrance door.

Well done researchers (Jool and Stanleyschesterton). To jan57: My parents say when they visited England in about 1991 Dorothy drove them around in her Austin at age 92. They remember she drove fast.

Thankyou again. Brian in British Columbia, Canada

I should point out it's a Catholic church, not Church of England.

Ah, for Middlesex the WSFHS says "As part of its digitisation programme, the first batches of parish registers from London
Metropolitan Archives and the Guildhall Library have now appeared on the Ancestry.com site.
The baptisms and burials after 1813, and marriages after 1754 have been indexed"  - so that's handy.

http://wsfhs.co.uk/assets/documents/researchaids/RA49.pdf

Except it might just be referring to marriages et cup to 1837.
