campbell street newcastle upon tyne
« on: Tuesday 18 August 15 11:53 BST (UK) »
Just wondered if anyone has a photo of Campbell street from the 1950s in newcastle upon tyne.  Use to live at number 37 i think.  in 1957 - 1958.

I can see from the new street map it no longer exists not sure when it was demolished.

Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

Newcastle Upon Tyne is in Northumberland, not Durham.

I will ask a mod to move this thread!

Try sending an email or phone TWAS (Tyne and Wear Archive Services) at Blandford Street, Newcastle. They have lots of photos of houses in that area that were taken just before demolition.

Facebook pages for Tyneside Past and Present or Tyneside Through the Ages often have old photos of places. Or just ask them after joining the group...

Good luck

I was born in Campbell street no. 74 in 1952 and lived there for 15 years before moving to fenham. Campbell street was pulled down in 1969/1970 to make way for a new estate. I probably have a photo of the street somewhere but we were very poor so cameras were for other people.

Try googling "images for old photos campbell street newcastle" and work your way through the selection delivered.
NOTE - in spite of "Campbell street" in the title, few may relate to Campbell Street. But I did spot something about a "Wooden Bridge"? (I only tabbed through a couple).
