Hi Pharma,

The second photograph was definitely taken in Largs.  The first one with the two ladies was however taken in Rothesay, on the Isle of Bute.

Is it? My Mum always told me it was in Largs of course I don't really remember what the 2 places looked like until the 80s.

Campbell, Dunn, Dickson, Fell, Forest, Norie, Pratt, Somerville, Thompson, Tyler among others

Hi Pharma,

The following link is to a Francis Frith photograph of the same area of Rothesay.  If you look at the doorway of Mackays (Ladies and Gents outfitters in the 1950's) it can be clearly seen just behind the parked car in the Frith photograph.  This was taken from the end of the access road to Rothesay Pier (at the War Memorial).
