Not your chap, I think. This William was b 8 Dec 1873 in Newhaven, Edinburgh and was living at 2 Taylor Cottages, Leith.

10997 is his younger brother, James, b 13 May 1875

Not unexpected.  More research on RM records with the brilliant help of the Fleet Air Arm Museum took us recently in another direction but nonetheless, as always, most useful to positively eliminate one avenue so thank you from me for your effort and time.

As MaxD say's, we have explored every avenue available to us, and with the fantastic help of other members and the FAAM we have came to the conclusion that we will not find Williams records.
