« on: Tuesday 25 August 15 13:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

My family are from South Devon Teignmouth and Torquay area. I have attached a photo of a church but do not have any information of where it is.  Please can you help.

Thank you

The buttresses on the tower are rather distinctive.

Tower part seems to match Shobrooke

Straightened the tower; tweaked the contrast a little.

Similar buttresses on Church of the Virgin Mary, Ashill, Somerset, but the rest of the church does not fit ...

There are other similar looking churches but this one is different in that it has the clerestory.

Thank you for your help.  It does look like St Swithun's Church in Shobrooke.  I will look at my tree and try to find a connection. Jenny.

Although the tower of St Swithuns is very similar the rest of the church/churchyard is not.
The tower in the original has a clock but I can't see one at Shobrooke.
The Shobrooke church doesn't have the clerestory part ie. the taller section with Windows.
The graveyard in the original has several substantial crosses on plinths, the Shobrooke one seems to only have gravestones.
But that tower......uncanny resemblance!
