Help needed with Sidney Charles Beavis please
« on: Wednesday 26 August 15 15:09 BST (UK) »
Hi all, I posted a request in lookups and RK found a passenger list for me.

Sidney or Sydney Charles Beavis arrived in Canada in 1929. He was born in Bristol in 1904.

I'm presuming he went as part of a land grant or homestead scheme as it says he was a farm worker and staying at the Canadian railway hostel.

I have no idea about Canadian research, but I'm no mug 😳 I've tried all the resource links I can find!

The only other thing I know is that in the 1940s he was in Edmonton and then Castor, Alberta, I don't know if he lived there or was visiting as its on the back of some photos.

Can anybody find anything on him at all??? I can't find a single thing!! Marriage, death, obituary, residency any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks,

Kev

The only thing that I can find for a Sidney Beavis is on the USA Collection on An..y on an Alien Arrival Form for St. Albans, Vermont where in 1929 a Sidney Beavis crossed into the USA.

The only information on the form is:

Beavis    Sidney     24   193

assume the 24 is the age?  not sure what 193 is?

Doesn't give the date of crossing

None that we know of Sandra, I found lots of Beavis' about but none that match at all. He was there from 1929 to at least 1943, it's thought that he never returned to England but he may have.

Strange that he doesn't appear on voters lists - maybe he was moving around and that's why he was missed, plus WW2 etc.,
The other Sydney Charles Beavis born Cardiff and birth registered Dec 1905 seems to be the one who passed away in Taunton Somerset - June 1975.

Have you got an exact date of birth for Stanley Charles Beavis ?

There is a chap in Detroit Charles Stanley Beavis born 19 May 1904 (supposedly Ontario) but might be worth checking out.

I think the same with the Taunton death.

No I'm afraid not just listed as April quarter 1904.

Beginning to think it's going to be impossible, I was asked by my lovely auntie if I could try and find him ( he was her uncle) all the family has passed away and she knows nothing about him apart from him being in Canada and the 2 photos she has from the 40s.
Really appreciate your help Sandra. Thank you .
