Kim,
Thanks for the reply and the research. Unfortunately as Heywood points out the family were in Meelick in 1901 and recorded as born in Mayo. It seems there are several Michael & Mary Mullin pairings with a daughter called Honora.

Many thanks
Jonno

Hi! I am also related to Michael and Mary Mullen from Collagh! Their son Thomas was my great-grandfather! (although he shows up in none of the records in Ireland, we have some information from the horse's mouth, as it were - his daughter is still alive and remembers her father well, even though he died when she was in her teens).

I believe that Mary's maiden name was Walsh. I have a document that my Gt-grandfather sent to Mayo (he emigrated to Liverpool) trying to get proof of birth so he could claim his pension. His birth date varies wildly depending on his army records (WWI), his wedding certificate and his death certificate.

Norah seems to have also been known as Honor. I have some information about them and their family as I was in Mayo this year for my dad's 60th birthday (we did a bit of a Who Do You Think You Are? trip) and we went to the Mayo Family history Centre and they helped us alot and gave us quick a bit of contextual information too. She is also found later working in the Castlebar asylum as a maid and her children are the McLoughlin children that show up living in Collagh with Mary and her daughter Jane in the 1911 census.

Please get in touch and I can tell you more and share some more records!

Jennie
Great to get your reply, I had given up getting any further with this post.
The Mullen/Walsh pairing looked the most likely because of the Collagh connection but the date for Honor Mullen's birth differs by 9 years from the census.
Nora married John McLoughlin in 1897 at Castlebar so she could have been 20 or 29 years old, John would have been 21. Toyboy?
I will send you a personal message so we can swap info.
Many thanks

Excellent! I only found your post because I'm putting together a book about our trip for my dad's Christmas present and quickly Google Collagh to get a map up.

Right then, with the extra info of Mary's maiden name I have been able to search for other children of the couple. The following was gleaned from familysearch (my roots Ireland subs has expired).
Maria Anna Mullen 04/10/1859 Calry,  Sligo (doesn't fit with area or dates of others)
Catherine Mullen 14/10/1864 Swineford, Mayo
Peter Mullen 22/09/1866 Kiltimagh, Mayo
Honor Mullen 01/11/1868 Mayo
Michael Mullen 20/08/1870 Swineford
John Mullen 07/06/1873 Swineford
Mary Mullen 14/09/1877 Collagh
Patrick Mullen 06/01/1880 Collagh

And from jennie333,  Thomas Mullen

Not found a marriage record yet.
