Wood(s) & Poltick
« on: Friday 28 August 15 20:41 BST (UK) »
I'm following up an idea from a cousin/fellow researcher & I'd be grateful for any info.

We believe we are descended from William Wood B 1804 who married Ann Puttock.  Their son, also William, maried Ann Holland & the family lived around Horsham.  We're ok after that.

But the idea has been thrown up that the William (b 1804) might be the son of William Wood(s) who married an Elizabeth Poltick in 1801.  I don't know what the grounds for thinking this are so I have no idea whether it is correct, but I wonder if there is another Rootschatter out there who is researching the Wood(s) or the Polticks who could give me any pointers.

I'd be grateful for any ideas
Cheers
Maggott

Have you looked to see if anyone has the Polticks in their Surname Interests in Your Tools, below?

The Sussex pre 1837 marriage index shows the William Woods who married Elizabeth Poltick at Rudwick in 1801 as a bachelor of Ewhurst.

Hi Sillgen
Many thanks for the info.  I suspect Richard isn't our guy as successive first sons were Williams, but there were no Richards at all in the family.  So,now to trace Ms Poltick...

Cheers
