Richard Lewis-Brithdir Farm
« on: Saturday 29 August 15 12:32 BST (UK) »
Hi
I wonder if anyone can help with locating details on Richard and Jane Lewis.  I've been researching the tenant farmers on this farm for some time and the names Richard and Jane are new to me.  I only become aware of them via the two newspaper snippets attached.  Appreciate any help given
Kind Regards, Roy

Thanks Suz; unfortunately the census returns for the farms in Brithdir are missing for 1861 so I'm not able to check if he was there then. Found one death in 1866 for Richard Lewis aged 52 Merthyr Tydfil.  This calculates to a birth of 1814.  Can I ask for a look-up on the 1851?

What a result; you have been really busy and I can't thank you enough.  I have really struggled on this one and even with your details in front of me I still find it difficult?   A simple thanks seems so inadequate on times and this is one of those times; I am over the moon with the info so a Big Big Thanks from me.

I thought you might like to know what the occupation of 'bowler' entailed.  From 'old occupations' he made the bowls of spoons before casting. A good explanation is on the following site.
