Good Website For Parish Records
« on: Monday 31 August 15 10:19 BST (UK) »
Hello all.

Can anyone recommend any good websites where I can find transcribed parish records?

I have hit a couple of walls on my tree and need marriage certificates to be certain of parents but at £9 a go it could get expensive,

Thanks

Some marriages are transcribed on Durham Records Online. This is a pay-per-view site, but works out cheaper than buying certificates. However, mostly they tend to focus on pre-1837 marriages.
You can check their coverage here http://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/Parish_Record_Info.php

Or FreeREG.org.uk?

Better still, their new website Freereg2.freereg.org.uk.

But you will need to check what Parish Registers have been transcribed.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
