Update.
Still no marriage found for John Smith and Fanny Laversuch, but GRO records have confirmed that the children born from 1873 - 1897 shown in census below had MMN Laversuch.

My cousins and I are DNA matches with four different descendants of Fanny Laversuch, (including the Genes Reunited member mentioned in my original post) so the connection is proven beyond reasonable doubt.

Perhaps they didn't marry, a family on the move all the time might not have bothered, or perhaps (less likely) the marriage is lost.
