Help please with Ellen Daly nee Hutchison

Good afternoon all,

I am struggling to find the birth of my 2 x Great Grandmother, Ellen Hutchison (note no N in the surname but I have searched with an N too).

I have found her marriage to James Daly 12 Aug 1873 St Patricks, Waterford to James Daly. This shows her father as Thomas Hutchison.

I have found her daughters birth record which confirms James & Ellen as her parents. They were living at Henry Street at this time.

I have found Ellen Daly on the 1901 & 1911 census return living as a widow at 10 Clashrea Place, Waterford.

The census returns show her birth place as the county of Waterford but the 1901 census says she was 46 (1855) and the 1911 census shows her as 62 (1849)

Either way I cannot seem to find her birth anywhere.

I am very excited as I have just made contact with a "new" cousin who has sent me a photograph of her so I would love to know her full story :-)

Thomas Hutchinson married Catherine Doherty on 25 January 1838 (halfway down, location is Cheekpoint):

This does look like it is her! My cousin who sent me the picture of Ellen had mentioned Ellen came from Cheekpoint and had her listed as Ellen Norah Hutchinson.

I was worried about the spelling of the name but do we think that Ellen dropped the "n" in hutchinson to become Hutchison on her wedding cert and on her children's birth records? Maybe without knowing it.

Spelling wasn't standardised in those days so Hutchinson and Hutchison are just different forms of the same name.

Hi CP the name Eleanor Ellen, Helen, are all the same name and often called Nellie or Nell, Thomas Hutchinson & Catherine Doherty, first born was Bridget, baptised Ballybricken Church 27th Dec 1838, your Ellen was born 1850, they most have had some between 1838 and 1850. Jim
