Hi Rosie,
Thanks for the link. It appears that Badbury doesn't have its own parish registers and the inference is that it may form part of Chiseldon. Certainly its not listed by the Wilts FHS.

Am unable to find a parish called Badbury in Wilts - could it have been Avebury?

I had never heard of it either Alan, when I searched google earth it landed in the middle of a field  ;D
I fear Bradbury is non existant in Wilts too.  ::)

I am having problems locating this family prior to 1901 - back to searching for them

Does Frederick have a middle name - when was he born

Rosie

There is a Badbury in Wiltshire, south of Swindon as it was.
Has Methodist chapel but no parish church

Mike

Edit,  That's a poor link, enlarge the map and its bottom left.

Swindon would be the registration district, I can see a John Thomas in 1849, but it's little better than a guess really.

I can't see a marriage either.  You really need to be able to track him back in census, he may have been married before.
