Mary Gaynor Born about 1851 County Louth RC Baptism.
« on: Sunday 06 September 15 16:49 BST (UK) »
I have tried looking in various Louth parishes especially around Dundalk where her she lived with her husband and children in 1901 but to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

No details yet on her marriage but looking to order the certificate in the near future. Her Married name is Russell. Married in I think 1876 in Dundalk. Here's her in the census from 1911 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Louth/Dundalk_Urban_No__3/Dublin_Street/904907/ and 1901 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Louth/Dundalk_Urban_No__3/Dublin_Street/1561164/

I have had a  search 1848-1851 but couldn't spot her- can't guarantee that she's not there though  ;)

I think it would be best to get the marriage certificate - hopefully you would have her father's name and maybe an address.

Thanks for looking. Was going to have to get the marriage certificate anyway, just wanted more information to confirm I had the right marriage as well as give some confirmation as to her date of birth.

That's them. That marriage looks like it would be my best bet as well. Looks like there's a Peter Michael Russell baptised on 27 May 1877 with the right parents which would make 1876 much more likely. I can get a transcription from roots Ireland but will probably get a copy emailed to me from Roscommon.

Well I found this and I think these are her parents and her potential son Peter Michael Russell.

http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/dromin_inscriptions_01.htm

Gaynor (R3 12) (Russell)
Erected by Owen J. Gaynor Peabody Mass. U.S.A. in memory of his beloved father Owen Gaynor,
Dromin, who died 8th May 1871, aged 55 years, also his beloved mother Mary Gaynor, who died 29th Dec 1883, aged 63 years.

Also his loved nephew Peter M. Russell of Dundalk who died 21st July 1893 aged 16 years.

May they rest in peace.

I also was sent by private message details of a family in Dunleer Parish around Dromin.

Marriage Mary O'Neil Eugene Gainer 16 Feb 1849 Mooremount.

Baptisms
Mary Gainer 27 April 1850 Ward's Hill
James Gainer 1 May 1852 Halfpenny's Town
John Gainer 23 Aug 1854 Ward's Hill
Mary Gainer 10 May 1857 Ward's Hill

All baptisms have Owen Gainer as father and some variety of Mary O'Neil as mother.

Have found the Owen Gaynor who put up the gravestone in American census' but no baptism for him yet. Found a tree on geni tried to make contact, to no avail but hey ho.

Thought I'd include this incase anyone else is or will be looking in the future and to give give me chance to say thank you for all your help and for taking an interest.

as they were Catholic have you tried looking for Owen as Eugene a favourite way for priests to write the name in Latin.
