His father died in 1853 - Payne on freebmd

Did his mother re-marry?  An Eliza Pain married in 1854 to Thomas Humphries and an Eliza Payne married Robert Higgs March qtr 1861

How do you know that Noah Davies in 1871 census is your Noah Pain (Where did the Davies name come from)?

Chempat has a point.
From 1871 I get the relationships between Darbyshire and Bate, but why would the enumerator "invent" Davies?
In 1861 Noah Davies 10 appears at Fleet Street, Bilston with parents George & Elizabeth all born Bilston.  Also 1851 at Quarry Lane, Bilston same family, aged 8 months.
There is a BMD record Jul 1850 Wolverhampton.
Upton, Bishops Wood, Staffordshire.  Jones, Nant-yr-Ych, Aberhafesp, Montgomeryshire.  Evans, Kinnerley, Flintshire.  Dennis, Breedon-on-the-Hill, Leicestershire.  Brown, Red Lake, Wellington, Shropshire.

Thank you the details I have given are correct I have the Birth certificate.
Noah (PAYNE, born 15 July 1851) Freebodies Dudley Father Noah Pain, Mother Eliza Woodall,
This matches other information on other census etc with relatives, The family used all the variants of payne, but the main name is Davis. Father Noah used PAYNE when marrying.
It is the 1861 census information I want ? possibly listed with a different name or elswhere with relatives.

Hello,

Do you have Noah in later censuses?
There is a birth record for a Noah Davies born in the same quarter. Could he be the one who is a boarder later?

I can't find a marriage for Noah and Eliza yet  ??? I see you have various threads re this family but not sure if you gave them in 1841. I presume this is them?

1841 978/8/8

Noah Davis 25 yrs
Eliza Davis   20 yrs
James Davis 8 yrs
Thomas Davis 6 yrs
Jane Davis    4 yrs
Maria Davis 2 yrs
Joseph Davis 1 month

Found the marriage - 1835
St Martin, Tipton, Noah Paine and Eliza Woodall.

Still no trace in 1861 of young Noah. Does he marry?
