Samuel Wood's occupation in the 1841 census (Maidstone) states he is a labourer, so Sarah Ann baptised in Chatham is looking promising.

The Samuel Wood in the 1851 census listed as a Hairdresser is the correct family for Julia Wood as suggested by Granny M but is not the family I'm after.

I have since found Eliza Wood was baptised as Eliza Bray on 3/2/1856 St Paul Deptford Kent, born 16/3/1841 (Bray is her mothers maiden name).

It is looking more convincing that Samuel Wood and Mary Bray never married, he left Mary at some point prior to the 1851 census, where Mary and her children are all listed under her maiden name.
