Hi Pauljones

Welcome to Rootschat ;D

The records for Llansantffraid seem to be online noting he was buried on 6 March 1965 aged 65 (born1900) but there doesn't seem to be a corresponding entry in the death index with this age.

Have you contacted the cemetery to see if they have any more information in their regisetrs that might be useful?

Do you have a copy of your mother's birth certificate which names both of her parents?

From that we can work backwards to a marriage and the marriage certificate should name his father.

From that we should be able to work backwards again and find him on the censuses (1901 and 1911)

And a birth cert, this is looking promising

Without any of the above information it is hard to know for sure but this might be his family in 1901 at Llansaintffraid Deythur

Evan Rowland Jones aged    29 Labourer Farm born Montgomeryshire
Elizabeth Annie Jones aged    22 born Llanfyllin
Evan Lloyd    Jones aged 11months born Samey

With the combination of names being quite frequently occuring, you'll need more documentary evidence such as certificates to proceed.

The area in question is very near the English border. So in this case the neighbouring Registration District is in fact Oswestry Shropshire.Given this is so,we find the Marriage of a May Evans and a William Richards taking place at Oswestry in 1917.The GRO Ref is Jul/Aug/Sep Quarter,Volume 6a,Page 1351.
