finding George Meiklejohn

I have been researching my Scottish ancestry and have run into a brick wall! I cannot find the parents of George Meiklejohn, my gg grandfather. He was born in Saline, Fife in 1831 and married an Elizabeth Crawford (no parents for her either) in Saline 27-3-1850. They lived in Saline all their lives.
Any help out there?

If I have the right George. Elizabeth and child on the 1851 census his birth place is Carnock so possibly?

If you download that certificate it should give you parents names , although this would only be to the best knowledge of the informant.

     The last un-named baby may have been a still birth. 'Ev' posted Elizabeth's death in 1866 so possibly she died in child birth.
     James Meiklejohn's birth in 1855 is well worth a look up on Scotlandspeople. Certificates from 1855, the first year of official registration, are a gem of a find because they contain extra information. Not only the baby's birth details but both parent's names, mother's maiden name, parent's ages & place of birth. Number of children the mother has given birth to and whether alive or deceased. These certificates were taking too long to fill in, especially in busy city registrars, so by 1856 they were shortened to more or less today's format, baby's birth details & parent's names, although Scottish Certificates do include mother's maiden name.
     Found a marriage for George Meiklejohn & Janet Duncanson, 22nd Nov,1867 in Kirkcaldy, Fife and think they are with George's 3 youngest children (Mary 11, James 7, Andrew 6) in Airth, Stirlingshire in 1871.

          Agnes Heron  "       24  Wife       b Glasgow, Lanarkshire.
     (John Mack included on this transcription has a different Household Schedule Number from George & Agnes)

     Found a marriage for George Meiklejohn & Agnes Heron 1878 in Bridgeton, Glasgow City, Lanarkshire. (ScotlandsPeople)

     This death might be your George.
      George Meiklejohn died 1889 in Stirling, Stirlingshire aged 60yrs. (Born about 1829) (ScotlandsPeople)

George Meiklejohn died 26/2/1889 Royal Infirmary, Stirling.   He'd married 3 times i.e.
1. Elizabeth Crawford
2. Janet Duncanson
3. Agnes Herron

His parents are given as James Meiklejohn, Ploughman (deceased) and Isabella nee Brook (deceased).

     Found this on A*try. (Same information as Reply 1 by 'cath151')
     George Mill Mieklejohn born 13th baptized 28th Sept,1828 at Carnock, Fife. Parents are James Mieklejohn & Mary Duncanson. Either the wrong George or Death Certificate has wrong mother's name. George's 1867 marriage to Janet Duncanson & 1878 to Agnes Heron should name his parents. Worth a look just to confirm his mother's name.

Many thanks to you all. You have given me a wonderful amount of information that I will check through. Too much to take in at once. The info that George had been married 3 times was a shock! Plus Elizabeth's death as 1866. I have it as 25-7-1879, so more checking. My Scottish main line is the Andersons in Saline from John in 1705.
