Gerrard Rawes - Beetham
« on: Sunday 13 September 15 04:20 BST (UK) »

Hi All

I'm trying to go backwards but finding it difficult to find proof.  I'm hoping someone may be able to either help me or point me in the right direction.

What I know:-

Robert RAWS/RAWES (Rose) baptised 8/10/1780 in Beetham married Sarah Levens  5/5/1806 Kendal, Westmorland

Robert was the son of Gerrard RAWES and Margaret CANNON .

Gerrard & Margaret married 6/11/1773 Burton, Westmorland.

I believe Gerrard (Jarret/Gerard) was the son of Gerrard RAWES/RAWS and Elizabeth POTTER and was baptised in Orton 5 Mar 1748.
But I can't find any proof.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Genni

There's also one in the England Births & Baptisms for a Gerrard Rawes in 1747 in Shap, son of William Rawes.

Thank you for the replies.

True there's 2 Gerrards that's the problem.

One married Mary Mounsey and the other married Margaret Cannon.

William & Ann's Gerrard died in 1825 and left a will and he married Mary Mounsey.
Lived in Swindale Head, Shap Westmorland.

I haven't been able to find a death for Gerrard (son of Gerrard & Elizabeth).

cheers

Hi
I know its far away but I have these on my database for Appleby
1578 Mary Rawe mother of John Robinson St Michaels
1647 Alexander Raw Father of Valentine St Michaels
1647 Mary Raw daughter of Thomas St Michaels
1819 Gerrard Rawe father of John, Gerrard is a Carrier and husband of Mary St Lawrences
1837Joseph Rawe died St Lawrence
1822John Robinson Rawe son of Gerrard and Mary St Lawrence
Gerrard seams to be a family name hope this does not cloud the waters
