Juliana Augusta Hull
« on: Sunday 13 September 15 18:53 BST (UK) »
I am looking for my great grandmother Juliana Augusta Hull's first husband William Willis.  Juliana was born in 1849 in Kent and then moved to London.  They had a daughter Maud Annie Elizabeth born 1879 and died 1881.  On her birth certificate it stated that her father was a mercantile clerk.  On the 1881 census Juliana was a widow.  I have not been able to find Juliana and William's marriage.  Juliana married a William George Cream in 1884.

Hi clandean

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

Do you think that she might have made up a husband to cover up an illegitimate child?

You can't find a marriage and there's no obvious death in the Hackney area between the 1879 birth & baptism and the 1881 census

Thank you for replying so swiftly.  Maybe she was not married although it was stated on her marriage certificate that she was a Willis when she married her second husband.

Have you got Juliana and her family on the censuses in the years upto 1879?

It wouldn't be the first occasion of an unmarried mother fabricating a spouse with a similar family name when an event such as a christening took place in a parish (St John Hackney 31 Aug 1879) that they were not known in (Bethnal Green).

I have the wedding certificate that shows she is a widow.  I am just curious that I cannot find any information of William Willis except he was a Mercantile Clerk.
