Throckley is 7.5 miles west of Newcastle - and Hadrian's Wall runs through the town!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throckley

And it lies in the parish of Newburn:

NEWBURN, a parish in the west division of Castle Ward, and east division of Tindale Ward, is bounded on the north by Ponteland parish, on the west by Tindale Ward and Heddon-on-the-Wall, on the south by the river Tyne, and on the east by the parishes of Gosforth and St. John.
This parish includes the townships of Black Callerton, Butterlaw, Dalton, East Denton, West Denton, North Dissington, South Dissington, Newbiggin, Newburn, Newburn Hall, Sugley, Throckley, Walbottle, and Whorlton East and West. A small portion of the township of Black Callerton, in the parish of Ponteland, containing two houses and nine persons in 1851, belongs to this parish.

Throckley is some 7 miles from the centre of Newcastle, which is a very large place! As Stan says, it's part of the Metropolitan Borough of Newcastle. Having been there only a few days ago I can say that it's separated from the urban sprawl by the merest wafer of green belt.

Being pedantic (as usual  ::) ) I think I'm correct in saying that the line of Hadrians Wall runs through it, but that none of the actual wall remains there.

(Edit: sorry Lisa, this doesn't address your actual enquiry  ::) )

If the marriage was in 1940 then the Electoral Register for 1939 could have the same occupants.

Hi

Thanks very much for the info guys, where Throckley is located would make sense as the family are on the 1911 census in Walbottle so they didn't move to far.

I'm looking to see if my great Grandmother was living there at the time with her parents because her house in Middlesbrough was said to have been damaged in the war and there is a rumour that she took her kids there to live for a while, it would of been around 1942 to 1945 as i believe she may have had my great aunt when she was living there but cant be a 100%

Have you checked FreeBMD to see where the birth was registered?
