Edwin Densham Smith 1886 - 1960 (India)

This enquiry is related to India primarily.  Edwin was born in London circa 1886 and spent most of his working life between 1900 and 1947 in the Indian Police Force.  He married his wife Violet Lushington Taylor in India circa 1915 and had at least one daughter Helen Violet born circa 1928 in India.  Can anyone help with Edwin's history especially where I may find details of his police service in India.  Any help much appreciated

He appears on a passenger list to Bombay, India with Mrs Violet Smith 27/11/1925 on the Rawalpindi. Occupation is given as Indian Police.

Looks like he had a son too Edwin Alexander Densham Smith born 23/09/1916 in Mussoori, Bengal (Civil Service Evidence of Age).

India Marriages has the marriage 16/10/1915 - Edwin Denshaw Smith aged 29 to Violet Lushington Taylor, 24 in Mussoorie, Bengal by banns. Fathers John George Smith and James Lushington Taylor.

You may have all this - but I think Edwin Densham Smiths parents are John and Fanny. Fanny was nee Densham, and was a daughter of the Sarah mentioned before. SHe can found at home in previous censuses. She married John George Smith Oct/Nov/Dec 877 Pancras.

So Edwin was visiting granny on 1891 census.
