BRAINS Marriage
« on: Wednesday 16 September 15 04:20 BST (UK) »
Folks,
John Brains (also Branes,Brams,Brain) c 1792 Nothamptonshire on 1851 census in Orton Waterville,a widower, with his daughters Ann b 1820 Sarah b 1822 and three grandchildren.Baptism of Sarah in Orton Longuevill shows mother as Lucy which lead me to Lucy Lambert b 1796 Orton Waterville and a burial of Lucy Brains in 1837.What i can't find is a marriage to confirm my suspicions.
Any suggestions welcomed.

I would be looking in neighbouring parishes for baptism of Ann and any older children . Then for a marriage. Seems wifes name was Lucy, but I wouldnt be sure it is the Lucy Lambert -what evidence have you that your Lucy was bn Orton? Or of her year of birth? Is there an age at her burial?  Lucy Lambert may be the right one, but she may also be  a red herring.  Especially if the family lived elsewhere after marriage until just before Sarah was born.

Ann was baptised 1820 Orton Longuevill
Other children to John and Lucy.
Robert 1819 Orton Longuevill
Mary 1824 Yaxley
John 1827 Yaxley
William 1830 Yaxley
Lucy 1832 Yaxley
I have nothing of substance to connect Lucy Lambert to John, only that his children's mother was Lucy and the first two children are baptised in Orton Waterville and Orton Longuevill.
No age shown at burial.
Back to re-checking 23 parishes within 5 miles of Yaxley.
Thanks for your assistance.

Marriage 1818 at Brington: John Brains of Cotterstock* and Lucy ??? (it's not Lambert).  My Hunts Marriage Index fiche is too faint for my weak eyes to read it! Perhaps someone else has a better image and better eyes. Just about to go out, but I'll have another look at it later to see if I can find the entry under Lucy.

* Later: Cotterstock, Northants is 10 miles from Brington, Hunts

It is Lucy Goodman. When cross checking, the G fiche is much clearer than the B fiche!
