Hi

Thanks for that.

I assume Ann Maria's father is George Chambers.

Do you know what her father's occupation was at her baptism?

In our family we have Ann Maria Chambers, daughter of George Chambers and Susan Horton married to a George Devey, son of Richard Devey and Caroline Layton. Their children didn't start arriving until 1859 leading me to think that there may have been a former marriage.

Can't find a DEVEY/CHAMBERS marriage or a DEVEY/EDWARDS marriage but by 1861 Ann Maria is residing with George Devey as his wife.

In the 1841 census George Chambers appears to be a painter and I can't find him or his wife in the 1851 census.

The Devey family emigrated to New Zealand in 1864.

Any help with this will be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi

Just a pile of papers and notes handed on to me.

I've sent off an email to a another family researcher to see what he has in the way of actual documentation. Others with the same tree don't appear to have an actual date for the marriage.

Please revisit the marriage where Ann Maria is a witness. Is it Susan's wedding? Who did she marry?

I looked up a marriage for Susan Chambers and found one in Kings Norton to either Joseph Corban Norgrave or James Watkins. There's also a Kings Norton marriage for an Ann Maria Chambers to either Nehemaia Mason or William Woolley. Does any of this help with deciphering names?

In NZ the Devey's were connected to a Methodist church - would they be non-conformist then? Don't know much about that

Hard to say if this is the same family going by the father's occupation
Marriage for a Mary Chambers 17 July 1864 St Andrews Bordesley Warwickshire age 23 father George Chambers occupation painter
Spouse Joseph Read age 21 grocer his father William Read gentleman
The address looks like Gamin Lane ? witnesses George ? Ann Maria Simms ?
