John Parkin of Hull (marriage and baptism)
« on: Friday 18 September 15 11:35 BST (UK) »
Hi,

John Parkin of Hull was born there around 1823 (according to censuses). His partner (or spouse) was Mary A. and they had children in Hull from 1859-1861 (Mary A and Catherine) before moving to Liverpool the next year.

Does anyone have the ability to find out John Parkin's baptism details and/or the details of his wedding to Mary A. (approx 1857/8 I would imagine).

  Many thanks,

    19S

One of the childrens birth certificates would confirm the mothers maiden name which would make it easier to find the correct marriage

I wonder if the marriage was much earlier:

11 May 1846 Holy Trinity Church, Hull, York, England
John Parkin Occupation: Mariner Father:Thomas
Mary Ann Cawcutt Father:William
Witnesses: John Taylor(same person with them in 1871 described as "uncle"?) & Mary Parkin

Well, I'm convinced. Older daughter Catherine is definitely born in 'Hull' district in 1860, and the only John Parkin marriages there are in '46 and '48. This census record matches up perfectly as he was, indeed, a mariner in the later census.

Thank you, geniuses!

Hard, then, not to assume that John Parkin is the "John Henry Parkin" baptised at the church he would later marry at on 30/10/1828 to Thomas and Amelia Parker. The date is five years later than the 1871 census would dictate, but unless there is another record to dispute this, this seems likely to me...

I was leaning towards this one:

John Parkin

Birth Date:   8 Mar 1823
Baptism Date:   6 Dec 1829
Baptism Place:   Holy Trinity Waltham Street-Wesleyan Methodist,Kingston Upon Hull,York,England
Father:    Thomas Parkin
Mother:    Mary

Could be wrong,though! :)

this may help confirm

1861
Mary A Parkin has nephew & Neice John & Elizabeth Fishwick with her(census previously posted)

1851 census there is Thomas Fishwick30, wife Isabella 30 children John T5, Eliza 3 and William H 1b. Hull

FreeBMD has a marriage
Sept qtr 1844 Hull
2 of the names on the same page are Thomas Fishwick & Isabella Parkin

so could Isabella be sister of John???
