Just an update..
Spent a full day at Berwick records office the other day, still no marriage record found for my James and Eleanor.
We checked online and in records held at Berwick, without any luck.. being advised that sadly sounds like it was an irregular marriage.
Don't think il ever find where they married..   :(

So even though we cant find a Baptism for Eleanor Hope or a marriage for her to James Nelson Trainer I definitely think going by the Census I posted her Parents would be JOHN/MARY Hope.

Marriage;
11 November 1847, Heworth, Durham
Sarah HOPE, Single, Father JOHN
James ENGLISH, Single, Father JAMES
(Familysearch.Org)

Possible Baptism for MARY ANN Hope, Neice on 1851 Census;
13 Feb 1843, All Saints, Newcastle upon Tyne
Mother MARY Ann Hope, Spinster
(FreeREG)
Likely Mary age 19 on 1841 Census with John/Mary Hope

Likely Burial;
JOHN Hope, 26 July 1843, All Saints, Newcastle upon Tyne
Age 55
Abode Heaths Court
(FreeREG)

It is possible they never married. It happened more often than we would think :)

not 100% sure

but i have seen a walking stick which was presented as a golden wedding gift (inscribed with the date), also a newspaper entry for the 50th wedding anniversary, as both James and Eleanor Trainer were given numerous gifts from different people (the corporation, also the Good Templars, aswel as family)
