Hello Mick, it's just so amazing to see your posts as I've often thought of my Granny May's family. I will def look those photos out for you. In the photo I believe to be of Samuel he's wearing a sailor uniform with HMS Pembroke on the hat. He is v young, Nell just looks beautiful with long wavy hair. I thought my paperwork was put away in good order but looking it out last night it's not so good! But will sort it out & make sure you have copies of every detail, photo & certificate I have.  :D bye for now take care.

Hello Mick, another one as all seems to be going well so far! This is our great grandmother Eliza Ellen Johnston nee Nixon, Edwin's wife. She is on the right as you look at the picture. She's with her sister Annabella and they are dressed the same as they are bridesmaids. I have a better picture of this framed so will scan it too when I get it out of the frame. The wedding took place in Fermanagh I believe.

Hello again Mick, last one for now - this is Isabella Dorothea Mary Johnston (May Miller) with my Uncle Billy, taken at the shop she owned in Ormeau Street ( long gone!) off the Ormeau Road. I remember it very clearly, the living room and kitchen were at the back of the shop with bedrooms and bathroom above on 2 storeys. Bye for now.  :D

Isabella, thank you very much for those pictures.
I can see my father in Samuel and he did serve in the navy but was medically discharged, I have his service record.  My dad tried to follow in his footsteps but could not pass the medical as his legs were different lengths although he did not limp or show it.  Thanks again, I am now on the trail of William (Edwin's dad) so am trawling the 1851 census, if I find anything I will let you know.

 Hello
The beautiful photo's drew me into this thread, I noticed a couple in particular the man in the uniform and the named shop. I have been searching for Nixon's myself and I wonder if there might be a connection. I have an almost identical photo to the man in uniform, although I believe mine is of a Nixon boy.  The resemblance is uncanny, although the uniform may be helping. James Nixon born in  abt 1828 is my 2nd Great grandfather, Born in Glenish Ireland, His Father was called James Nixon also and estimate him to be born about 1807. I do not know anything of who he married, Ie I don't know the younger James Nixon Mum.  My 2nd great grandfather came over to the uk in the 1850's I believe with 2 other of the Nixon family, although I have never managed to trace those other people.    I happen to have had my dna done and I am  supposed to match with quite a few people with the name Miller, I haven't managed to work  any of the miller matches out at all.  I just thought I would mention this, as it all just seemed a little coincidental.
