John Sim
« on: Friday 25 September 15 09:52 BST (UK) »
My 3 times great grandfather John Sim was born in Methlick, Aberdeenshire 8 June 1792. He married Isabella Moir 19 August 1810. Does anyone have information as to who John's parents were? The situation is confusing in that there appear from census records to be at least 2 John Sims born in 1792 who married an Isabella.

The best bet would be to find their death certificates. The bride's maiden name will be on it as well as the names of their parents. If they died before 1855 you could still look up their offspring's deaths. That should confirm which couple were their parents. You could also check the children's christenings to see if there is any mention of relatives or addresses given.

There is a baptism for John Sim 8/6/1792 Methlick Aberdeen father George  ?
According to a tree his wife died 25/5/1851 Tarves nothing further on John
Baptism for John Sim 26/9/1811 Methlick Aberdeenshire father John Sim mother Isabella Sim
Baptism for William Gordon Sim 8/11/1818 Fyvie same parent's
Maybe worth getting the Baptisms on the old parish records might not be much information but might give you where they were living

Thanks Rosie.
Sorry about delay in replying. Just dawned here in New Zealand.
The William Gordon Sim Baptised 8/11/1818 is my GG Grandfather so by the look of it those other records are of my ancestors too. Which "tree" or source did you get the information from?
Russell

Just saying that there is no monumental inscription mentioning any of these Sims at Fyvie or at Methlick.
