Thoughts on Louisa Rea Mullett
« on: Friday 25 September 15 13:24 BST (UK) »
Hi
Anybody have any ideas on Louisa Rea Mullett?
She was born 1827 in Dudley or Sedgley
She married in 1846 at St Mary's Kingswinford a George Armstrong from Bromley.
Familysearch gives her father as Thomas Rea.
I haven't seen the original but the only baptism I can see is Louisa Mullett daughter of Sarah baptised at Dudley  19.4.1835  and born 27.7.1830.

Can anybody spot her or her family or have any thoughts on her father Thomas .Obviously it looks like she was illegitimate but i can't find any of the three out there on the 1841 census etc.

Can you help?

Lots of possible scenarios

She may have been illegitimate child of a Sarah Mullet, but father acknowledged as a Thomas Rea
Or she may have been a child of a Thomas and x Rea, but Thomas died and Mrs Rea remarried to a Mullet whilst Louisa was still small, and she used the surname Mullet through her life, but still acknowledged her real father when she married
Just two possibles.

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

If you applied for the actual marriage certificate there may be useful information such as occupations and witnesses.

It was not unusual for unmarried mothers to use the father's surname as a middle name for the child.

Good Morning
Thank you for all that.I do think Willow's cracked it.
It looks like them. The facts fit.
They have a son Thomas baptised 25.8.1840 at Brierley Hill so they must have been together before that.
I've found an  Elizabeth Mullett in 1851 age 11 granddaughter to John and Mary Mullett in Kingswinford aged 62 and 67 which fits with everything but his occupation as a ag lab instead of nailor.
There's two possible baptisms for Sarah
18.6.1809 at Sedgley to John ans Sarah nailor
18.12.1809 at Kingswinford to John and Sarah

It's all coming together ,just can't spot them on the 1851 and 1841 censuses.

Thanks everyone but especially Willow.
