Hi Joan,

Thomas Livingston of Rathbarron b1782and wife Ann are my 3x gt grandparents. John Livingston b c1812 of Gortakeeran and wife Mary Wallace from Easky are my 2x gt grandparents.

My gt grandfather William Livingston b1856 who was in the RIC married Margaret Clarke from Carrownree, Skreen. They went to live in Londonderry after William retired from the RIC and that is where my grandparents met. Grandfather Oswald George Livingston and grandmother Wilhelmina Foster Dougherty came out to NZ in 1922 shortly after they married.

I try not to name living people when posting so will stop there. I will send you a personal message a bit later.

By the way William's brother Jeremiah Livingston b1847 was also in the RIC and lived in Cavan. His only son was John James Livingston of Coolnacarrick. Arthur met up with him when he was in his 90s. Glad to know Arthur is still alive as I have not heard from him since Zoe died. Arthur did a huge amount of research on the Livingstons after he moved to Cuiltybar.

When my parents visited Ireland in 1982 they met up with and chatted with  another NZ couple on the ferry across to Ireland. I am fairly sure that may have been Eileen's grandson or perhaps his parents as when my parents knocked on Eileen's door there were cries of "what are you doing here" as the same couple were visiting Eileen.

Cheers

Linda.

Thank you Hallmark for the links to wills.

Thomas Black of Lugawarry who died 1913 was the husband of Jane Black nee Livingston, youngest sister of my gt grandfather William Livingston. Their son was William Livingston Black who died 1968 and is buried at Rathbarron.

Wm L Black was married to Daisy Tuach, granddaughter of my gt grandfather's oldest sister Ann Livingston. Wm L Black's daughter Muriel who died 1987 was the wife of John McMaster of Rathbarron, who farmed the original Livingston farm at Rathbarron. We actually don't know where the Livingstons were pre 1825 , though it is possible they came from Glasgow.

Cheers

Linda

Hi I just discovered this site. I've began to do a small bit of geology as a birthday present for my brother. I'm trying to find out all I can about my dad's dads and my mum's mums. My mother was Olive Fraser nee Black. I was hoping someone could tell me if my research is correct and if someone has and info, pictures, dates, stories... Anything about the following women I would greatly appreciate it!
Olive Black 1948-2016 married John Fraser 1948-2014.
Eileen Thompson 1918-2015 married John Black 1910-1979.
Mary Anne Crean 1885-____ married John Thompson 1898-____.
Eliza Davis 1850-____ married Daniel Crean 1845-____.
Anne Livingston 1807-____ married James Davis 1811-1876.
Anne______ m Thomas Livingston.
Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of these.

You can try https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp  and try searching using the likes of this and relevant Year ranges even leaving out District if you don't know it.

Alter search for others as needed...

For Creans

Try

I could look for you but many love making discoveries for themselves.....and ask if they get stuck on something.

Enjoy and have fun!   ;D

I know, for a beginner it can be daunting, but if you are not over-exact you can find many quite easily and learn how to search records for others rather than having names/dates posted and then not learning how to search.

Then, as and when you have time, can research at your own pace....

Of course it helps if you put correct Surname in Surname box...unlike my examples!!   ;D  ;D

As a mere Male I was multi-tasking when doing them... trying to drink coffee and doing the examples at same time!
