Hi Murciana

I have been trying to track John or William Lambert back in the Census and he is proving difficult to find. All I can say so far is that he is not the John Lambert who was born at Goldsborough and married to Mary. That John appears with Mary in 1871, 1881 and 1891.

Looks like a long process of elimination is needed to pin him down.  I'm wondering if he was married before he met Elizabeth. And maybe still married which is why a marriage to Elizabeth is proving hard to find.

Sorry Iīve been quiet for a few days but Iīve been trying to find out more about James Lambert who was on the same census form (1881) as Elizabeth Hunter - in the workhouse in Wetherby, thinking he may be related to William Lambert who was on the 1901 census with Alfred, my grandfather, as his son but I think he was possibly his grandson, living in Bramham. James was born in Bramham!! although I canīt find a birth record for him.
This hasnīt really helped at all as I still canīt relate anyone to Alfred.
Iīm beginning to think I will never find him!!

Have traced James Lambert born Bramham from the 1881c to 1841 census
he died Mar qtr. 1884 Wetherby age 72, never married, son of  Ann Lambert,
possible brother of William born 1830

Would this be another candidate for William's baptism?

William Lambert
Baptism 15 Jul 1829, Bramham ,Yorkshire
Father    James Lambert
Mother    Ann

this couple appear to baptise an Emma on 1833 and two Marys, in1827 and 1834

Ann's maiden name appears to be Robinson, marrying in 1826

The only drawback being the younger James, who is born well before that ,arriage

Mabel that looks to be a better candidate for William as he was on 1841 census in Bramham

I couldn't find a James Lambert bapts St James Wetherby with parents named William & Ann
to confirm either

Will check to see if I can find a William occ Tanner & Ann together on 1841 census

Thanks for the info Mabel and Ladyhawk.

Iīve been looking at the records for William Lambert again and the one Iīm looking for was born c. 1838 in Wetherby, living in Bramham according to the 1901 census.
I canīt trace this William on any other census form!!!

I think the other Williams are 9/10 years older - dobīs 1829.

I canīt find a William born or baptised in Wetherby - the only one I can find was baptised in Kirkby Overblow (which is about 6 miles from Wetherby) on 12 Nov 1837 son of Joseph Lambert and Ann (nee Hey).

Iīve looked for Joseph and Ann on the 1841, 1851 censusīs but canīt find them!!!

Iīm hitting a brick wall again - whenever I find names, I cannot then find them on census forms!!!
