Scratching my head
« on: Saturday 26 September 15 18:33 BST (UK) »
I have been trying to find a death for Maud Elizabeth Bishop with no luck and need some help.
Born Maud Elizabeth Edmonds Bayliss 5 May 1912 Holborn she married Charles Henry Bishop 16 Apr 1933 St Michael Hackney. Charles Henry died 25 Mar 1964 at the Hackney Hospital and Maud Elizabeth was Administrator of his Will. Not  finding a death under Bishop I looked for another marriage. Nothing showed up in freebmd but there is a marriage in familysearch England and Wales Marriage Index Dec 1965 Hackney Maud E Bishop/William Godfrey. Now I can not find a death for Maud E Godfrey to compare births.
Can anyone help?

The death indexes online only go up to 2007. Ancestry has a partial list after 2007 but that is not compiled from official data, rather death notices in newspapers and grants of representation.

If she was born in 1912 there is a chance she was still alive in 2007 and could still be or has passed away in the intervening years.

With the improvement in health care and people living longer, searching upto age 105 should always be considered.

I've had a look at the electoral registers. Maud and her family were at 29 Overbury Street, London E5 (Hackney Central ward GC)

in 1965 William Godfrey seems to be living at 68 Blurton Road, London E5 (Hackney Central was GB)

Maud Godrey was living at 68 Blurton Road from before 1981 when the data starts to 2002 according to a database I have access to. The main data starts in 1996 and she was alone.

By 2002 she would have been very elderly and most probably moved into a nursing home. The date of birth on the death cert may not be the same as the one you have on file.

The only other way would be to get the marriage certificate of Maud E Bishop/William Godfrey and see whether that lists her as formerly Bayliss. It would also give her father's name, which, if it is the same person, should agree with the 1933 certificate.
