Ephraim Harris 1844 injury
« on: Monday 28 September 15 05:18 BST (UK) »
Hello

I found on ancestry, several public trees have a Ephraim Harris, father of Sarah Harris, wife to my great great great granduncle James Steel.

They attached to their trees a newspaper article from 1844 when Ephraim, working as a shopman for a baker J D Carrs in Carlisle fell through a trapdoor and injured himself

I would like to read the article, but the zoom tool will not zoom in far enough so I can read it properly.

Would someone please help me find a copy of the article online that I can read properly? Its for a book I am writing

my thanks

It's available through Newspaper Archives and Findmypast in at least two newspapers:

2 November 1844 - Kendal Mercury - Kendal, Cumbria, England
1 November 1844 - Carlisle Patriot - Carlisle, Cumbria, England

"thigh broken, in consequence of falling down through a trapdoor"

A free trial, or waiting for a free weekend, or going to a library that gives you access, or to a Family History Centre, would get you the full thing.

They are both on FindMyPast - you need to select the newspapers first

You won't be able to read it without logging in/an account (or free trial), etc, but here's the link to the two I gave above:
