Stretton baptism
« on: Thursday 01 October 15 13:28 BST (UK) »
Folks,
Perkins Stretton birth is registered Jan Qtr 1856,and 1861 census shows his pob as Yaxley, living with William Robinet, his wife,Elizabeth Stretton, married 1856, and two Robinet children. My feeling is that Perkins is the base born son of Elizabeth but i can find no baptism to confirm this, can anyone see a record, please?

I can't see a baptism either - you may have to buy the certificate to be sure of his mother. I would guess that he is base born and named after his grandfather, Elizabeth's father. It seems strange that she married William on 17 Mar 1856, probably within weeks of Perkin's birth doesn't it? You'd have thought they would have married a few weeks earlier to make him legitimate, unless William wasn't his father.

Hmm I am currently transcribing the Yaxley registers for FreeReg and you're right, there is no baptism for Perkins.
I don't know if it has any relevance but Elizabeth Stretton was a minor aged 18 when she married.
