Yes I did research Lydia Turnbull Aiken living in Nisbet, Crailing with her father John (Mason, born in Ancrum) in 1851, John not in 1861 census. I had hoped to find a MI somewhere to hopefully get more info, he likely died in Nisbet, possibly pre 1855. I think he may have been a brother or son of our William who married Isabel Davidson.

your nearly right

Lydia turnbull (Born 1816 ancrum) married mark Aitken (born 1802 crailing) in 1836 - mark is my gggrandfathers brother - Lydia's father was john turnbull (born circa 1781 ancrum) he was a mason - the census shows john living with Lydia and mark 1841 & 1851

also might of found Richard's MI  - but his wife was an Isabella turnbull - the parent were William turnbull and Isabella Davidson

will do some more digging and let you  know what I find

Yes, I found John's marriage info, and Lydia's death reg, they all match. Will check opr for John to see if his age lines up with census data.

I forgot to mention - don't rely too much on the spelling of names and census ages

the spelling depends on the person reading or hearing the names with our different dialect around vowels can sound different ie. 'e' could be heard as 'i' , etc same with 'i' & 'y' - for example lydia turnbull is spelt Lidia in the 1841 census, but Lydia in the 1851 & the with Robson & Robison

a lot of the records were taken orally.

as for the ages in the census' depended on who the census taker speaks to - the ages in the 1841 are somewhat estimated give or take 5 years in some cases.

As far as I'm aware John's wife was Margaret Young

I located John's death, 1855 in Peebles; but it raises more questions, the childrens names match, and the wife's name, and his age, but for parents it has Richard Turnbull and Margt Young. Anyhow if you have access to the SRI records have a look, it reveals a sister of John too!. I have photos of Nisbet Boathouse from a contact in Nisbet area, if you wish me to email you with attachments please let me know.

The more I look I think the Richard you are trying to trace was married twice first to Isabella Turnbull and then to Robina - found out that William & Archibald were brothers  with mother isabella - I'll keep you posted
