Family last seen at Wepre Hall, Flintshire.
« on: Tuesday 06 October 15 16:18 BST (UK) »
My great-grandmother EMILY LAWTON (b 1875 Liscard, Cheshire) married JAMES COLLIGAN (b 1874 Liverpool) in 1895 Birkenhead - after my grandfather was born, and brought up by Emily's sister.

The Colligan family are last seen in 1901 at Wepre Hall, near Connahs Quay, with daughter Doris Mabel Colligan (b 1899 Manchester). James Colligan is a coachman, living at Wepre Hall stables.

Despite extensive searching home & abroad, I cannot find the family after 1901. I guess they were not at Wepre in 1911, but just a 'shot in the dark', in case anyone with local knowledge, has any suggestions.

Thanks in anticipation.

It looks like they've changed their surname.

Just do a search on Ancestry for Doris b 1899 Manchester with parents names.

Maureen,
Yes, 1911 with a change of surname! I cannot thank you enough, as you have solved a family mystery that has been rattling around for almost 100 years.
I am very grateful beyond words!

You're very welcome,Philip!

It certainly helped that Emily's brother (Herbert) was with them.

Yes, Herbert Lawton was a bit of a 'give away' even though I have the 1911 Census for him, I never connected with the other household members.   I've sent a PM to explain the solved mystery.
Thank you again Maureen, you have unlocked so many doors!
