Charles Ponsford - Devon

I'm looking for Charles Ponsford and more importantly I looking for confirmation to the maiden name of his wife.

Charles was born 1886 in Exeter and died on 21 April 1938, Exminster. I found a marriage to "Alice Ponsford"? Does anyone have any information of these people?

Possible marriage in 1898 in Exeter (vol 5b page 163) one of the candidates is an Alice Ley. sorry too early

1916 marriage to Alice Ponsford vol 5b page 63 - looks like her maiden name was Ponsford. You'd need to possibly order the cert to confirm.

If his parents are George & Eliza he was still at home on the last census.

Probate names his widow as Alice

Wonder if this might be the family on the 1891 census: -

George Ponsford 31, shoemaker b Dunsford
Eliza 30, b Chulmleigh
Emily 8, Earnest 6 & Charles 5 all b Exminster

Alice's name was Ponsford, but from another line of the Ponsford family. Her Parents names were William and Sarah Searle.

Now....if anyone has any information on their children...if they actually had any?

If you look on Freebmd  http://www.freebmd.org.uk/  there are 4 Ponsford children in Devon with a mother named Ponsford. The two born 1918 and 1923 look good possibilities. I won't name them as it is possible that they could still be alive.

Thanks for information. I have had a look could only see Jack and one beginning with V. Do you know of anyway to confirm that these are related to Charles apart from buying certificates?
